Greetings!
Thanks for visiting my portfolio site. This is a site dedicated to chronicling my work – artistically, scholastically and otherwise.
First, a little about me. I have just graduated with an Honors Bachelor of
Fine Arts, and am currently working on a Master of Public Administration
degree at the University of Western Ontario. Although visual art and
political science may see to be an odd combination, there are remarkable
similarities in terms of the analytical processes used in both disciplines.
I am studying public administration at the local level, am interested in
housing policy and urban planning, and hope to one day wind up working as a
city administrator.
Lewis Mumford once described the city as “a theatre of social action.”
Mumford understood the city as the framework for human experience, and
believed that city planners had a responsibility to ensure that the physical
environment would cultivate social development. He claimed that the
character of a city has a tremendous impact on the character of the
citizens. I love this idea. I think that this concept underlines my interest
in cities.
I love cities and I love art. I am interested in politics and people, and
how they intersect. I am tying to explore and learn as much as I can about
all of these things. This site shows some of my work. It will grow as time
progresses, and I will continue to post my work as it develops.
Thanks for your interest, and for visiting my site. I hope to see you back
soon.
Take care,
Kate
