Historical Narratives
The exoticism that is inherent in the modern view of historical narratives is evident in the use of ‘period’ costume as a hieroglyphic communicator of time. Costume is a language that collapses spans of space, location and time into a simple composition of line and shape. I have constructed imaginary spaces of my own internal narratives as a means of mapping time. I have used a series of lines and shapes to investigate my understanding of my relationship to history. The narrative exists in the viewing rather than in the work itself. Click To Go Back |
